About Me

My name's Kyle Boddy, and I maintain this personal weblog (as you have probably noticed). I'm 24, not single (engaged, actually), an entrepreneur, and I have a bunch of hobbies and interests. I have lived in Seattle for the past two years with my girlfriend Astrid, but was born in Cleveland.
Here's some information about me, broken down into sections:
Hobbies
Baseball. I love baseball. I love playing it (in several amateur men's leagues), I love coaching it (High school, Little League), and I love watching it (my favorite team is my hometown Cleveland Indians). It has defined my life for the past eighteen months or so. I learned to throw the gyroball from Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus, and that was cool for a month or so while Daisuke Matsuzaka was getting signed. Now no one really cares, but that's alright.
Gambling. Gambling is fun. I used to be a semi-professional poker player with standard (1-2bb/100) winrates in mid-limit Stud and Omaha Eight-or-Better. I'm a better than average mixed game player and enjoy playing the 40-80 game at the Bellagio, but don't get to Las Vegas as often as I'd like. I enjoy shooting craps and playing blackjack; neither is particularly good for my bankroll.
Economics. This is what I was studying last before I dropped out of Baldwin-Wallace College. I enjoy the micro and game theory side of it and consider myself an Austrian economist, though I don't really push the envelope. I do believe in investing in gold, I don't believe in government intervention for the most part, and I more or less hate politics (I consider myself a libertarian and/or anarcho-capitalist). I'm a non-voter. I don't want to get into why. Personally, I think that everyone should have some cursory knowledge of economics; it would solve a lot of the problems we have in our country if this were the case. Great texts on economics that I enjoyed are Socialism (Hayek), The Wealth of Nations (Smith), and The Theory of Games and Economic Behavior (Morgenstern, Neumann).
Gaming. I enjoy gaming of all sorts; I used to play semi-professional Magic: The Gathering (only one notable finish: 21st at GP: Oakland) and I was a paid author for StarCityGames.com. I play Halo 3 on Xbox Live (Gamertag: beedogs). I love the Call of Duty series, especially the newest one. My gaming rig looks like this:

Pretty awesome setup there, if you ask me! My computer specs are ridiculous and ever-changing; the important specs are a GeForce 8800GT, a Q6600 Quad-Core Intel processor, 2 GB RAM, and about a terabyte of storage space, about half of which are on Western Digital Raptor 10k SATA drives. I also have Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speakers, which are very badass.
Music. I like rock (in various forms), punk, hardcore, emo whiny stuff, girl music, rap, and whatever else. People get mad when I call certain groups «rock» or «hardcore,» so I'll just list a few bands I really enjoy, along with a few albums below.

Moving on....
Work
I'm a financial consultant and analyst for my own company, E.V. Investments, LLC. I work out of my apartment for the most part, having been in and out of offices as I merged with and separated from other companies and business partners. Currently I own 100% of the company and it looks to be this way for the foreseeable future.
Due to confidentiality agreements between my investors and myself, I cannot go into detail as to what I specifically do.
Love
My girlfriend is what brought me to Seattle, actually, as we met over the infamous site called Livejournal. (Incidentally, all of my posts on kyleboddy.com are cross-posted to my Livejournal.) We lived together for over a year, broke up, and now we are back together. We live separately, but plan on moving in again fairly soon. We have been dating for over three years over the Internet and in real life, and we got through the breakup and made our relationship even stronger afterwards.

So, that's me! I can be reached at kyle dot boddy at gmail dot com, or through comments on my weblog. I have a Myspace and a Facebook, and if you search, you can easily find it and add me there as well, though I prefer using my weblog and email for contact.
